our story

The name 'Corkbeard' dates way back to a tradition started when we were too young to even enjoy good wine. It all started at a family gathering in which we were having a ‘fancy meal’, which meant there were candles on the table and wine NOT from a box. At the end of the meal, we somehow felt the urge to burn the ends of the corks with the candles and start drawing beards on each other. Once we began, we never stopped. It was so much fun; the kids began looking forward to fancy wine nights just as much as the adults. And there it was, the beginnings of the tradition of the ‘Corkbeard’. This would continue at family dinners and holidays for years. And when we were old enough to start enjoying good wine the tradition carried on with friends and family. We hope you enjoy our little story and enjoy our wines even more.
